Welcome to our new sauna landscape

Since August 2026, enjoying the sauna at Hotel Sonnengut has become a special experience. The new, expanded sauna area combines soothing warmth, modern wellness experiences and stylish surroundings to create a versatile retreat for body and mind. High-quality materials, harmonious lighting and thoughtfully designed details create an atmosphere where relaxation comes naturally.

Sanarium

The sanarium offers a particularly gentle sauna experience at approx. 60 °C and 50% humidity. The mild heat is easy on the circulation and invites you to let your body and mind relax and unwind

Steam Bath

At around 40–50 °C and almost 100% humidity, the aroma steam bath offers pleasantly moist warmth. The gentle steam and carefully selected aromas create relaxation and a soothing sauna experience.

Outdoor Kelo Sauna

Warmth, tranquillity and the distinctive scent of kelo wood: our outdoor kelo sauna lets you experience traditional sauna culture in its purest form. At temperatures of around 90 °C, the dry, intense heat unfolds its soothing effect and invites you to sweat mindfully and relax deeply.

Finnish Outdoor Sauna with Vitality Boost

Our Finnish sauna with Vitality Boost is an 80 °C sauna in the outdoor sauna courtyard that combines an automatic infusion every full hour with precise, integrated air circulation. Water is automatically poured onto the stones in consistent quality, while the rising hot, humid air is distributed with precision. This treatment stimulates circulation and strengthens the immune system.

FRIMAS Snow & Ice Mist Bath

After the sauna, the FRIMAS snow & ice mist bath offers an extraordinary burst of freshness: icy air, fine mist and snow create an intense cooling sensation at temperatures of 0 °C to 5 °C. Enjoy a gentle, circulation-friendly way to cool down.

After a sauna session, enjoy an invigorating swim, float in the thermal water, or relax in the soothing warmth of the whirlpool and brine bath. Our Pools complements the sauna experience with a wide range of options for exercise, relaxation and refreshment.

The pool bar also serves chilled drinks and healthy snacks. Just right for a pleasurable break between sauna sessions.

ROTTUFER relaxation room

Relaxation that lingers

With our air-conditioned relaxation room ROTTUFER , we have created a special retreat. Across a spacious 280 m², 50 comfortable loungers, cosy relaxation beds and soothing waterbeds await you. The large glass front opens the room up to the natural beauty of the Rottal, bringing calm and a sense of openness directly indoors.

Fine materials from the region, clean lines and warm, light fabrics create a stylish atmosphere.

Especially after a sauna session, ROTTUFER is the ideal place to let your body and mind come to rest. A space for quiet moments, deep relaxation and renewed vitality.

Sauna & relaxation area

The sauna area at the Hotel Sonnengut comprises:
•  an outdoor Kelo sauna at around 90 degrees
•  a sanarium at 60 degrees
•  a steam bath at around 45 degrees
•  a Finnish sauna with ‘Vitality Boost’ at 80 degrees
•  and our highlight, the FRIMAS snow and ice mist bath. 

This means guests can choose from a range of temperature levels and sauna experiences.

The sauna area at the Hotel Sonnengut is open to guests aged 16 and over. This age restriction is intended to ensure a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere in the sauna for all guests.

The sauna area is open daily from 12:00 to 19:00; the Kelo outdoor sauna is also open from 13:00 to 20:00. After a sauna session, guests can relax in the ‘Rottufer’ relaxation area or cool down in our FRIMAS snow and ice mist bath.

Yes, the sauna infusion is one of the complimentary services included at the Hotel Sonnengut takes place in the Kelo outdoor sauna at 90 degrees. The Finnish sauna with Vitality Boost features an automatic infusion several times a day. 
Guests can find out the exact times for the infusion at the wellness reception or from the notice board in the sauna area.

As in most German saunas, the sauna area at the Hotel Sonnengut is a clothing-free zone, which is why guests enter the sauna without swimwear. The hotel provides a cosy bathrobe for the walk to the sauna and for use in the relaxation area.
