Lower Bavaria

Lower Bavaria is both the second largest district and administrative district in Bavaria.
It is an old farming region where farming still plays an important role today (primarily the largest production area of gherkins in Europe, and a share of the largest hops growing area in the world, the Hallertau).
In terms of economics, the most significant employer is BMW, with its large car production plant in Dingolfing.
